Shropshire mini adventure today
Took the 'ol TTR a bit of a mooch/recce around Knighton and Shropshire that turned out to be more fun than I expected
Lanes not hard, but plenty hard enough on a lump like a TTR 600 with road(ish)tyres on
Two old tractors
Then came across this sign, which sounded good
Next gate found this which I translated as 'piss off back to your council house pesant'
But carried on, and came to this one, and changed my mind as it now translated aS 'be careful, the people who live here are obviously nuts'
Lane was OK though
Then found a nice long lane with cracking views, only to find this on the last 50m plus a sodding great lock and chain around the gate with no way past.
On the way back I met an old bloke out walking (who introduced himself as 'Mr Mog from the Bog' ) who told me it was put there by a gay Londoners 'husband' who owned that little strip of land to stop horse riders passing as he didn't agree with them nailing shoes to their feet because he thought it was cruel
Whilst never thought myself a homophobic, could be easily persuaded
Then I found The Bog (but no Mr Mog!)
So stopped for a spot of afternoon tea to calm down
But had to get past this lot first
Whoever came up with the phrase 'about as welcome as a bacon sandwich in a synagogue' has obviously tromped in here wearing bike gear covered in shit!!
Then they charged me an extra 25p entrance fee to the café for some weird and unexplained reason
Might be just the place for next years Santa run - the traumatic experience would kill or cure 'em
