pad pins snapped
Had my front pad pin snap today - in the middle of a river too.
I checked them for wear this week when I serviced the calipers and they looked ok . Does this happen much? Didnt have a spare, but used a long 6mm bolft and a nylock for the remainder of the day, which did the trick.
Anyone else had this happen, not much I havent replaced on this bike now - she is a keeper.....
Is this common?

the more I think about it, even with minimal wear on the pad pin holes, it would be a high fatigue part as you get movement between the two. will have to look up the price on the pins, i cant see them being a high cost item.

Surely they don't take any stress, that's all their there for is to locate the pads. The only thing I could see for changing them is if their rusty they could inhibit the pads moving ?

Re: pad pins snapped
They snapped when I rode into the river, I only serviced them last week thinking that they would be ok.
I rubbed them down with a wire brush and put a little red grease on them popped them back in no problems

Re: pad pins snapped
May be a silly question Clarky but we're the two halves still in the caliper ?

Looking at mine they are held solid with new pins and show a 2mm gap at the location end.
