if you want something with a decent power to weight ratio steve....perhaps you ought to look at an xr650.wont have the road manners of the previous bikes you've perused but i've been to north wales and back on mine no problem and plenty of 100 plus miles days out.

a cush drive rear wheel will improve things on road (if your fussed) and my xr with 14/42 gearing burbles along nicely at 60 (i have mechanical sympathy for my bikes) with loads left.
