Devon.....
I received a text from a fella that I had not spoken to for about a year called Matthavedice . It was an invite for a weekend of trail riding around Devon . One of his group Christopher1964 , I already knew as he had showed us around Surrey and Hampshire quite some time ago . What a top bloke for thinking of me , so I gave Matt a call , asked him if it was alright to bring a mate (EXC Lee) , the answer was yes and the deal was done . I was supposed to get to Devon on the Friday night but due to work load I had to leave my house around 4:45 a.m. to go and get Lee . We arrived in Bovey Tracy at 9:20 a.m. and was suited and booted ready for 9:40 . We quickly said our hello's an then started the riding . As I did not know where we were going to ride the camera didn't come out much on the first day and I did not want to take liberties by taking loads of pics of a bunch of folk that might not have liked it , by some ugly twat on a Gasser .
A proper isotonic drink was enjoyed at the petrol station during a quick stop .
There was not too much of these lanes as most of the lanes were really dry and dusty .
That was day one .
Day two was a different story as Matt would let me go up front and get a few pics of the lads .
The first trails of the day lead up on to Dartmoor .
I bet this water crossing is fun when there has been plenty of rain .
The coolest stickers out there ......
Shaun looks on as Guy tries to get Shauns bike working but with no joy . We left him there and he was happy to hang about for us to finish the ride and get recovered .
Twas a tad dusty and three of us had a "moment" with a Land Rover that appeared out of it as if from nowhere .
By this time , Shaun had got his bike going , it turned out to be a dodgy kill switch . He met us in Newton Abbot and all was well .
That was the end of the last lane of the weekend . Just before this one , Lee had has brush with a boulder and ended up making lurve to a tree that was covered with hedge . That is now why he is wearing a full plaster cast up to his armpit . Broken elbow , ouch . Fair play to him for riding back to the B and B from Teignmouth along with a couple of other injuries . He looked like an extra from a zombie movie in the service station on the way home . No pictures there cos I know when and when not to take them . Fair play to Chris for stopping and helping out at the time . About 220 miles were covered over the two days . Many thanks to Guy , Shaun ,Dave , Chris and Matt for making Lee and myself welcome on the ride . It was a cracking weekend (no pun intended Lee) and that is what making friends on the bikes is all about . I am sure that Lee and I can show the Dorset Green Laning Crew some new trails in the not too distant future . Top effort to all involved . Last few pics .......
The Main Man of the weekend , Matt .
Mmmm zoider . Cheers Matt .
