Camping Trip
Met up with Gadget in Pontypool Saturday, to start out in search for the midge free zone
Headed to Brynmawr to meet steve, tho he had managed to find some nutter who likes yam's so sold his bike & couldn't make it.
So headed to Gilwern to meet up with Geraint
Then on to Talgarth to meet up with Gary
Then headed north on some nice long Byways to Khighton
Not before stopping for a cracking steak, service & a giggle
Then we did find a midge free zone to camp
Tho...! Gary first thought... he had picked up the wrong bag & brought his fishing catch net
But soon realise it was ok....just a bit more stealth than he was expecting
After a cracking evening around the camp fire we bedded down for the night, I slept like a baby tho! Geraint said I was more like a hungry Hog
We awoke....well I did to it pissing down, gary already packed & ready to go.
Geraint wasn't going any where before his cupper tho!
Which me & Gadget was glad of, our tents were a bit more tricky to fit back in the same bag they came out of
We all know Wales is wet...but things just got wetter & wetter so after finding a good brecy we almost done a road burn home, but hey that's trailriding
Ok got home a bit wet under the arm pits but really did enjoy the trip as always great company & a proper giggle

Re: Camping Trip
Thanks Wolfy for organising this, it was a cracking weekend. I see you even caught a photo of the terminator T101 cyborg mountainbiker giving Geraint a run for his money!

Re: Camping Trip
thanks wolfy for a brilliant two days outing and for collecting the firewood, was good to meet up with gadget other than the xmas rideouts and thanks to shocker for unwittingly providing the laughs, still chuckling to myself as he stood there with his coffin/tent poles wondering if some parts were missing
after a bath and dry underpants i think i would do it all again weather being alot kinda
great company, good food and a good campfire ......... a brilliant adventure

Re: Camping Trip
Met up with Paul, Geraint and Gadget at Glasbury a bit later than planned due to waiting for Steve who then didn't turn up as he'd either sold his bike (or had a crafty look a the forecast!)
The old girl loaded up for the off
Did some cracking lanes north, in some cracking weather
Fag break time
Further north
Wolfy looking a bit 'majestic'
Gadget looking a bit 'different'
And Geraint just 'looking for it'
Stopped for a bit of dinner before heading into the unknown
The sun started to go down so looked for a decent spot to camp
Various places rejected on thistle, sheep shit, mozzie population and howling wind grounds
Paul took no risks with the little bugger's after last time
Anti - mozzie pray applied
Special hat fitted - shame there weren't any really!!
One for the ladies!
Then I got my 'tent' out for the first time and the piss taking really started
It sort of looked OK in the end, but was as close as I've ever got to kipping in a coffin
The only up side was being able to have a slash out through the door without even getting out of bed!!
Happy camper or what??
Paul then went off wooding with his tractor
And lit the obligatory fire
That we got a bit pissed around, and talked the usual rubbish
Then sometime after midnight it started to slam down, so headed for our tents/coffins
It'd be nice to say after a long (very long) night of rain, snoring and bloody sheep munching a foot from my head dawn broke bright and clear
But it looked like this instead!
Geraint having his 20th cuppa
Then up sticks and off for some breakfast
But by mid day the now slamming down rain had even got to the more hardcore (that's wouldn't be me or Geraint then ) amongst us so all decided to head home
Thanks all.
From organizing the whole thing, to being excellent company and making me laugh so much
Am I glad I went? - Defiantly
Would I do it again tomorrow? - Definitely not!!
