march 7th ride report
staring out this morning was
myself
tilts
dean
graham
wayne
walnut
nuckingfuts
cnbevan
and doughnut there brother
started out from ebbw vale and headed off towards crickhowel,
ground was rock soiled and very icy
not log in walnut takes a tumble brakes his front leave cut his finger, (well little scratch)
quick refill in crick and off to the next lanes,
bit of confusion see,s the group heading off in to different directions 15 minuets later and were back on track
only to have a lost moment seemed my memory of what i,d seen on goggle earth wasn't quite working to plan!
the lost moment still nice views through
thinking to myself we should be over there looking
miles away into the distance about 3 mountains away!
so not letting on (yet) decide to head back the way we came but bit of luck and graham spots the track we need to be on taking us towards gwynvour steps or however you spell it.
not sure what going on in this photo through
maybe dean will care to explain?
got to some of the best views up around this area..
been down these steps a few times now always forget how rocky the road is
today is made even worse by the large about of white stuff! i say white stuff as this
wasn't normal snow this was m&s special rock solid hard packed ice.
just before we get there we pasted 4 other riders that had just come up it, must have taken them hours!
either that or they had seen the snow and thought feck that and turned around.
starting to head towards brecon now, doughnut who has been taking a few tumbles through out the day desides he needs a little pick me up only i dont think it worked
because shortly after he takes a tumble and snaps his clutch leaver and gear stick!
managed to get his bike into 2nd gear, dean says he knows his way into brecon its about 5 miles down the road he says,
about 15 miles later were in brecon where doughnut and bevan wait for there mate to turn up with a van to give them a lift home.
by this time (well about 2 hours before) tilts says he fecked and says he,s going home on the road.
(thats twice now ben you have failed to complete this loop maybe next time eh)
so with just the 5 of us left we head home via the gap
soon come up to the sharp righ hand corner were the steps are had enough at anytime
but by the time we got there it was fozen solid.
all up and off to the next interesting bit this to was just sheet ice to.
all up and the suns starting to set fast so we push on and head towards trevil
