24-1-16 The Wye with #TeamHusky
A superb day out. Started in Ponty at 8:15 and did the Ponty lanes on route to usk.
I was suitably informed by Ryan and Matthew, we wern't stopping for casual chats or any nonsense like that and we were to keep up a good pace!
Pretty much we did. Even with completly washed out Ponty lanes that look nothing like they used to, we made it to usk for 9am.
Then the Usk happened, pretty much the first lane, my back wheel clipped a log and somehow managed to kick the log up and caused this damage:
Dented rad, was lucky not to puncture it, and even felt the lock smack the underside of my handguards If i had not had them I would have been sporting broken fingers, after last week pondering if to keep them:- the answer is yes.
On and on we went, cleared Pant Glas with no stops I was feeling fecked at this point, but Ryan and Matthew insisted we keep up the unrelenting pace, looking at those two go, it was just a gentle bimble for them - bastards!
Devils Farce, errr I mean, Starcase. Some complete and utter cockwomble saw fit to lay 2 large logs across the route at critical points, and a large stone across another. These were too well placed to be accidental and complete ruined the route as we lost momentum. (well I did, Matthew carried on like it wasnt there, although Ryan did get stuck on the boulder which made me feel lots better)
Anywho, carried on (feeling really fecked now), kept the pace up, and all 3 cleared Lime Kiln first time. Matthew then decided to do an Elvis and started doing Lime Kiln a few more times each time on a harder route.
After getting back Usk, I discovered I had ripped the gusset of my trowsers so I got a free ticket home while those two did yet more lanes on the way home Fair play.
And thanks for the great day out, I'm aching!
