KTM 450 oil transfer problem??
Recently bought my KTM shes a 2008 model which i know are common for the oil transfer problem.
When i picked it up the oil level was spot on halfway the sight glass, rode it for about an hour on sunday. checked it earlier and it seemed empty.
Gonna go up tomorrow and put some oil in it, use it a for a little while and see what the level does.
Does anyone know anyone local that would do the job locally and what sort of money it cost to put right ??
Thanks

Its the oil seal on the clutch side in the caseing it cost about a fiver at et james you need a gasket as well about a tenner you only need to take the whole cover off you can leave the clutch basket cover on and water pump remove the cover and there is a small seal in side the cover change that and replace the gasket job done double check the gear box oil has risen and its not burning it first

Thanks mate.
Gonna check to see what colour the gearbox oil is. Read if it's black then its the seal so that'll be the easiest way to check I guess.
Have they made a modified seal/gasket or is it something I'll have keep an eye on in the future ??

On the clutch side by the kick start there's a bolt with oil level written next to it

Are you checking the oil level whilst the bike is cold without being started or kicked through?
The bike will show a false reading, run the engine briefly or kick it over a few times and then check the oil

Yeah I ran it for about a minute knocked it off and checked and couldn't see anything through the windows
How much will it take roughly without changing the filter ?

I've only ever had the earlier bombproof 400 and 450 RFS engines. They run combined engine & gearbox oil, sounds like the later bikes run separate.
