A fellow Rhondda rider
Where too are you from?
I've not been out in a few weeks, well over due a ride out.
I usually ride along maerdy mountain up to the top of rhigos, or cross to Aberdare down to llanwunno etc

Re: New
there's a few legal byways in Porth/ynyshir, you can ride up Porth farm to a trail which runs through pen Rhys golf club. It's a legal byway as much as the golfers hate it
Or from ynyshir, near the new primary school there's a byway that runs upto llanwunno.
Next time I'm out I'll drop you a message on here

Re: New
If you've not ridden for a while and just want to get back to grips with the bike and off road. I'd head over to ynyshir, llanwunno side. There's some easier trails over there.
If you are coming up from Porth, ride passed the Baden pub and turn right onto the new bypass road. Turn right on the junction, then take the left into the industrial estate. Ride passed the new school and keep going all the way to the top of the hill. As the houses end it turns into a bumpy Tarmac, gravel road with a gate in front of you. That's the start of the legal byway. Starts off as a rocky hill climb, at the top of the climb, it cuts to a slightly steeper section. Take the left here and you can ride trouble free. Take the right and you'll meet the farmer and his dogs
