KLX 450?
Anybody know anything about these please??
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
For example is there a decent spread of speed between gears, and is the power manageable or has it simply got a huge amount and try's to kick your head in all day long - like most other modern 450's?!
Reliability I know about (its Japanese ) seat height I also know about (bounced up and down on one at the NEC)
Just wondering, as they seem good value new or second hand (unless they're shit of course)

Re: KLX 450?
It's basically a modern version of a Drz, based on a de tuned rmz motor. It's the sort of bike you off-road on the weekend and could ride to work on Monday morning
The resale isn't very good as it's not really trendy, like the orange ones, so it only has a small audience, again not really suited to all road work and there are other better options for off road.
I would buy one cos it's the sort of bike I like, not race focused and highly strung

A guy I know rode his nephews and reconed it was totally brutal , masses of power and delivered in one huge lump....basically a kxf with some shitty lights fitted and hes ex brittish championship level mx racer so knows his onions, needless to say he didnt have it long......when I think about it ive never seen one out and about or at an event, one or two use them for rallys though...

A 'detuned RMZ'sounded Ok, but ''massive power delivered in one lump'' sounds like the very last thing I want!
Ride one and see I suppose?
Thanks chaps

Re: KLX 450?
Stick to a WR 250 I think after what I'm learning!
Just can't see me spending the best part of seven and a half grand on a dirt bike, and it looks like neither will many others, as good almost new ones never seem to come up!
A KTM, some Loctite, a pallet of spare side stand's plus a massive slice of humble pie for me next then

Re: KLX 450?
To be honest if I was either properly into enduro's or good enough to use the performance of a race bike whilst trail riding the obvious choice would be a KTM
But as I'm neither, it makes more sense to stick to something less fast, more dated, less demanding on maintenance and dare I say it more durable
Would that be the same bike I've heard the odd complaint about whilst out then Steve??
