Narberth Classic hare and hounds
Well i've had my vintage Yamaha for a while now, so i thought it was about time i did something with it. Seen as Narberth Classic club were having an event and it wasn't to far away i thought I would give it a go. Printed of the regs and noticed there were modern bikes alowed as well, so my mate Antrow decided to come as well, with Pevs being our pit bitch. I was dead nervous about this event for 1 i don't normally do events, 2 it was on a 40 year old bike and 3 against a sea of KTM's:shock:
It was mainly modern machinery with 5 classics and 5 twinshocks, which was dissapointing. the scrambles track was really good with fast corners and plebty of grip. The track then swung in to the woods and became more enduro going, with some good tight naddgery bits. it had been raining heavily the night before and in the morning, and it had become very, very greasy. Most riders seemed to be having some spills or dramas In fact i would say it was probably the slipperiest riding i have done, and you really had to lay off the brakes. mainly because it was on grass. Very hard work on my yam, but got around o.k. hours racing then a half hour break. None of the classics went back out which was a shame. got called back to the start, and the Yam was having nonr of it, just wouldn#t bloody start Guy on an immaculate RM snapped a lever, so this meant only three twinshocks went out in a sea of orange. Race was stopped for a while as someone broke a leg after hitting a tree.
Good track, a bit to much for the older bikes, but later 70's bikes seemed fine. It was well marked out as well. Only criticism is that there was a particularily nast y mud hole that caught quite a few out, and caused a couple of jams as you couldn't get past, one good one caused by HondaMicky . Could have done with some marshals her to help get the bikes through and keep the other riders moving.
Alll in all enjoyed myself
Pics have uploaded in a strange order, but you get the drift
Antrow, HondaMicky and Pevs
not very good as they are off my phone

Yes Gar, but I think a proper classic scrambles is more suited to me and the bike

Yep, a young guy on it, he really struggled around and went home early. Saw him stuck quite a few times. But hey, braver man than meBancok chickboy wrote: did i see a ktm 990 in the line up ! ?

Cracking day John nice to catch up with you Paul and Ant really enjoyed it took ages to clean the bike for work the next day, I had to take the front cover to get all the grass out from chain. Enjoyed the motocross track, especially the second race coming down the hill with the jump. I take my hat off to to you enduro lads I'm still aching today. I'll try and post some pics later when I'm on the computer.
