Juljam, noticed you've had your starter repaired. What was the problem and who repaired it ?

Re: ktm 2t starter probs
Well my recon starter lasted about 30 seconds and was fucked again so i replaced the 4 bushes in the casings and tried it once more and still bolloxed....humm getting real pissed off by now :study: ....took my new batt back to m+p thinking they had sold me a dud but they tested it and was fine... tested voltage and was getting over 12v at the starter so decided to strip starter for a look and found new brushes fucked and jammed in springs so cleaned comm with wire wool and ordered genuine brush kit from et james at a cost of 9 squid, rebuilt it all tonight and tested it and hey ho its working better than it ever has , fooking landed

My bike is on 95 hrs just rebuilt the top end an decidrd to service the starter never hsd a problem with it but pulled the cover off and it was full of mud so i pulled the flywheel aswell to clean behind it a job well worth doing i think its getting in through the breather hole on the bottom of the casing :o starts better now than when it was new

Seal the hole with silicone and stick 5ml of atf in there... the internals on mine are like new, 175hrs with no probs and in the end only brushes i needed.... ive never used the starter from cold either
