Best bet is to make sure you park on a hill or sell it lol!
Honestly its easier to start the 650 than the 400.
Sure you,l get the hang of it. Eventually.

As for rides keep an eye on the ride out section there usually someone out on weekend and a few mid week skivers to.

Hi woody & welcome Very Happy
The xr can be a bitch to start...but a good strong bike.
The one i had did'nt like full choke & had to be top dead center with a small amount of throttle. (but no to xr's seem to be the same)
They don't like being dropped or upside down tho!...., which i done often.
If this happens to you....turn off the kill switch...open the throttle full...pull in the decompresion lever & kick her over at least six times before you put the kill switch back on & try again.

good man wolfy, seems to start on half choke after a far bit of kicking , what I cant get my head round is why does it start first kick when warm. there is obviously a good reason.
love the bike, great to work on , was a shed find and not used for 2 years.
gagging to get on mountain.
