I might be wrong here (and i'm sure i'll be told Very Happy ) but there seems to be a direct link with off road tyres between price - grip - wear rate

Eg Highest cost = most grip = fastest wear rate etc.

These are the last two i've used
AC 10 - cheap / crap grip (especially across cambers) / last forever
Metzeler 6 Day - expensive / good grip / wear out in no time

But often see good riders piss up anything on crap tyre's, while struggling on quality one's! Very Happy Very Happy

I think the wear rate will differ from bike to bike also.

A tyre would last a lot longer on say a ktm 200 2 stroke compared to say a 450 thumper.

i use a michelin enduro comp 3 it grips better than the ac10 but like you say it wears out quicker too, it doesn't come with as much tread from new as an ac10 either, i also think you need certain tyres for certain bikes i had a 250 smoker and fitted a mitas co2 rear tyre and found it the biggest load of shit ever took it off after 2 rides hated it, but my mate rides a 250 4 stroke and loves the mitas c02

i used to use a metzeler 6 day but that was about all it lasted 6 days and it was fooked well it was fooked after 4 rides but made it last a bit longer just because of the cost issue i liked the look of grahams rear tyre when i rode with him and the captain it was a maxxis i think but loads of tread on it so graham what was it ???????????????????

Is it true that they're only as good as a £60 tyre when fitted the right way around, and crap when on backwards - but quieter?? Very Happy Very Happy
