by the time petrol rotted a filter you probably would of replaced it anyway, a filters only a tenner! wash it out with some petrol, soapy water, washing machine etc a few times and chuck the bloody thing away! £22 is the price of two new filters, rather spend that on new filters than trying to clean up and old one with some fancy cleaner, a filter was never designed to last forever

i bought a fancy cleaning kit, aiso got 4 filters cos i lasy no toil the best, wash em hang em on the line then u good for a month...

Always use the cleaning detergant thats used to wash the bike...nice diluted 10 ltr sealable container will last a long time.
Depends on how strong the stuff you use...just dilute to requirements!
