Re: New Member
I was considering a 250 but like you say might not be great for the commuting side even though its only a 20-30 min ride and mostly through lanes, Ive also looked at the crm and they do look nice and apparently go quite well, and its a Honda so pretty reliable. I do love the smell of a 2stroke too. But the power and sound of the 450 will win the day I reckon, I'm going to get my ass into gear get my van finished and sold and start on the lookout!
This seems like a good club with a good bunch of lads anyway, Can't wait to get out for a rideout when sort a bike out!

I think you cant have both, any enduro bike that you use daily for a 20/30 commute is going to get tiresome on the road.
A DRZ may not have the street cred or looks of a modern enduro bike and not be the as good as one off road.
(Depending on what you call off road good enough for trails but heavy old beast in the woods)
But lots of people use them for both so i would think it be the best compromise. But go for the E model bit more power and less weight.

A Ktm 400 or 450 would be another good option.
The Ktm 400 are a superb bike. But for 2500-3000 I'd personally always look to pick up 2004-2006/7 model, they have a bomb proof RFS engine.
You should be able to pick a good example for £2500, I've seen a few 07's 450 with the last of the RFS engine for £2100. If you hold out for a bargain.
The wrf's seem to demand a high price. A 2004 450 usually around £2k. £3k you should get 2010

My CRM250 pisses all over my KTM 450 RFS on the road ... as for off road it's a different type of power ... and as CRM parts are like hens teeth and i like falling off - the KTM is the main off road choice for me .. but as a commuter it would be CRM every day
it also has a comfy seat

OK I think I've been convinced that a 450 is the way forward, I'm itching to get one asap now and come on a rideout after watching a few of your vids!! I'll have to crack on with this van and get it out to free up the funds! Might still go out and have a cheeky look on the weekend though just incase! Can anyone Recommend anywhere to look, decent bike shops in the area, I know mounters is up by ponty but any other recommendations appreciated!

Think for your budget your better off looking privately.
Mite get something in AB,s but shops like mounters or mash mx sell mostly new or nearly new stuff.
