Re: KLX 450?
WR sounds the right bike if your happy with it, but I've seen a few KLX 450s green laning over here, there's always a few at the D2D too.. people say the RMX and KLX can be brutal, but it depends on what your used to.. any 450 can be a handful if your throttle happy. I was told the 530 exc was a beast [it was when rev'd hard] but found it easier to ride than my old 450. Try and get a go on a klx if you can, you might enjoy itGary wrote:To be honest if I was either properly into enduro's or good enough to use the performance of a race bike whilst trail riding the obvious choice would be a KTM
But as I'm neither, it makes more sense to stick to something less fast, more dated, less demanding on maintenance and dare I say it more durable
Would that be the same bike I've heard the odd complaint about whilst out then Steve??

Re: KLX 450?
The only reason I looked at them was because they're so much cheaper than a WR
I've also heard conflicting stories about them - from being docile and slow to complete animals and wondered which was true - starting to think there might possibly be an import version or something??
But now think you're right, and will stick to a WR and either cough up (doubtful) or stick to the one I've already got (more likely )
Cheers

The 'fanny bike' is still alive and well in the garage

Re: KLX 450?
I know you're afraid of the 450,s after your go on the beasty wr 450
But something to think about, I jumped on the xr 400 that was out on the weekend and the difference in power delivery in that and my bike was unreal.
It felt like it wanted to jump over my head where as the power was a lot more easier to control on my bike.
So just because its a 450 does mean its going to want to kill you every time you open it out.
Comparing the xr wr and the ktm and all have very different power delivery. Wr still the best mind had to get that bit in

Re: KLX 450?
Are you saying an XR 400 was more of a handful than a KTM 450??
Surely not
I so often ride my 250 nowhere near flat out, but going no slower than 450's that can't help think I don't need one
Also when I rode Tanks 450 I could almost taste the hospital food

Re: KLX 450?
It really depends on how you like to ride.
If your happy to ride high up in the rev range, then a450 will be a handful, if you like to click through the gears early, then a250 will feel under powered.
The few klx I've rode suited my riding style, wher I like to change early and keep the revs low, but the one guy had made his more like a kxf, as he was used to racing mx, so he had a kxf flywheel on it and an fmf pipe which took out all the mid range, giving it a bit of grip low down then straight it instant wheel spin.
The klx felt like a cheap version of a wr, but I liked it and would buy one if I wasn't so tight!
