Mid Wales 1/09/12

EXCLee , P`larver and I went over and met a few new faces , five in all , but Lee and I knew one of the lads already Mr Southerntrails aka Jimbo . We met them in New Radnor as it it is a good place to start if you want a good Mid Wales ride , they were there the previous day and had camped out (hardcore) .
The Start .......

I didn`t get the camera out for quite a while after .

The trails in Mid (the legal ones that we ride) are quite a few miles long and are not too technical . The scenery is also quite something . Even the road burns between a few of the trails are sights some folk go on holiday to enjoy .





A quick fuel stop , then onwards and upwards with a few more trails not on camera

After another fuel stop (as you never know what will happen).
More water .

A liddle biddy slippy climb can catch you out even when it looks like no big deal .

This trail was proper fun , the front wheel just would not go in the direction that you had intended . Love it .


A few miles later and we had picked up The Strata Florida . The water was fairly low .

Looks like Paul is about to share some "man lurve". ;D -->All I said was 'Whip your plug out so I can give it a quick blow'

The truth is , he is a saint and was helping an otherwise stranded fellow biker . Fair play to Mr.Laver . A top man of the trails .

If it`s raining , I don`t mind getting wet . WTF.

Mr Laver can now cross out Strata Florida as one of his "to do" places .

After that . We bombed it around The Claerwen Reservoir




and decided to miss the trail at the bottom of the dam as we were worried that that there would be fuel problems due to the petrol station in Rhayader (E.T.James) being closed . It turned out ,they were open until 6 pm . Never mind . We still had time for another trail .

James and his mates called it a day at the end of this one as it was now five p.m. Paul , Lee and I decided to ride on . We followed a few old routes that had gone off the radar and also found that a couple of them that have now been shut down .
My camera battery had also called it a day and by this time , we all agreed to call time as well . We got back to the KA05 Machine at 7 p.m. Not bad for a 9.45 a.m. start bearing in mind , we had a 2 hour , 45ish minute dash home . Got up this morning and a little bastard of a wee beastie has stung my face . I now look even better as my right eye and all around is swollen . caaannntttt . I look at it this way . No pain . No gain . See you all on the dirt soon .

I am NOT even trying to steal your thunder Steve . All I am doing is to spread good knowledge of legal byways mate . I have really good mates up and down the British Isles who know really good places to ride that would willingly show anyone with the same interest . I am trying to help "The Cause" . That`s all .
It would be excellent for you and the members of S.W.T.R. to make a couple of "Foreign" excursions and it would also be a pleasure to show the group some really great trails . Please , do not dismiss the offer as that would be very unfair to the majority that just want to explore . I am aware that you may not like my offer but I am just trying to bring us all together as a nation of dirt loving enthusiasts . I also know that a .........................................................................Fuck it . I can`t be bothered now . Just trying to help you . That`s all .
