Yusss, the deed is done! I have a nice 2004 CRF250X sitting in the garage. Big thanks to Skippy, he even chucked a lid in for nowt extra after we settled on a price... Also, thanks to Dan for helping to get it over to my place in his van. All I need now is an MOT, some boots etc and I'm good to go.

Cheers!
661 comp boots, goretex socks, armour, textiles gloves and safety glasses ordered, the bike's insured, tested, and will be taxed tomorrow morning.
I need new chain/sprockets, rear wheel bearings and a throttle cable to get the bike 100% but I may just make do with only a new chain to get it going for a few weeks until payday seeing as the current one has a pretty nasty tight spot (I'm not bothered, the bike was a really good deal). Better not risk having to push it home from a trail with smashed up crank cases innit.

Dont fit a new chain without changing Front and rear sprockets ,if you dont change sprockets the new chain will be fucked in no time at all.

Re: New guy from Fleur-De-Lis!
Aye, that is generally the rule I know, but I was told in passing that although it isn't recommended, the aluminium sprocket that's on my bike is a lot softer than steel ones so the chain would probably survive well enough until I got the rest of my bits. The overall opinion was that my chain is living on the edge as it stands!
You're probably right though, I should see if I can grab the drive kit, bearings and cable nice 'n cheap and dedicate this Sunday to sorting it all out. I've missed messing about with a bike in the garage since I got rid of my shonky old Hornet so it'll be good get into it again.
So keen to come and give it some proper use... I had some fun peeling it round bends today but it ain't the best handling bike on the road
