'05 EXC 250, No spark any suggestions

My mate has just dropped off his '05 EXC 250 (2T) for some TLC as he's got no spark. He's at the end of his tether and not very good on the spanners or multi-meters
Anyone got any pointers for guideline meter readings on the various leccy bits? Gonna have route around the wiring for any obvious damage first but its looking like somat expensive has gone titsup knowing him
He's put a new coil on, plug, cap etc.......... bless him, but i'm gonna have to check he's bolted that on right first aand not gaffer taped it to the frame or something
