Midweek spin
The plan was to have a quiet run in the Abergavenny/Raglan(ish) area to try and find a group of lane's i'd last ridden there area years ago.
The group getting bigger, plus it being freezing cold, foggy and slashing down with rain meant a quick change of plan, and headed for the Black Mountains instead.
Steve, Tanky, Shepy and myself met at Geraints for the off.
Steve choose to wear what looked like a lightweight 'golfing jacket'. Maybe to prove what 'girls' we all were in proper waterproofs?
About a mile later, Steve went back to the van and changed into a proper coat.............!
Girl too then!
Arrived at the first lane wet and cold.
The main topic of conversation here was the merits of different brands of thermal underwear, waterproof gloves and socks!
From here the weather got worse, but as the lane got more interesting so everyone warmed and started to enjoy themselves
Nice catalouge pose there Steve
When Shepy said he was going to get ''shit faced over Christmas'' i don't think this roost courtusy of Tanky was what he had in mind!!
Headed on toward's Grwyn Fawr from here
Everyone looked like they were so warm by now that they were fancying a swim!!
''I'm sure they said these glove's were waterproof the lying bastards''
At Grwyne Fawr it was decided ''any way as long as it's down'' to get out of the fog the sensible choice.
Needless to say not everyones!
It got worse by the rock steps on the corner, as it was covered in a mixture of frozen snow and ice - lovely!
Throughout the day Steve's wheely's got bigger and bigger
Resultig in the 'mighty Yam' having a bit of a problem later!
To add insult to injury he had to borrow a KTM spanner off a KTM owner to apply a bit of maintaince as 'an early bath' was looking likley by now.
He even tried (and failed) to hide the evidence!!
Someone suggested to Shepy he might like to change his KTM for a Yamaha at this point.
Doesn't look keen does he?
Then again it might have been the chips, which were bloody 'orrible!
Not sure if the sprocket would last the course now so took a plesant and easy route back
Then we came to a river crossing, where Shepy,Geraint and Tanky had been persuaded it was mega deep. We (me and Steve) had nipped across an out of sight bridge before they got there!
You could almost feel the tension and fear in the air as they eyed it up!
Oh, so it was 6 inches deep at the most you bastards!!
From there it was back to Abergavenny for a cuppa at Gerainr's, but not before Tanky had the great pleasure of buying the last bit of pre VAT price rise fuel avaliable, Steve had crashed on the forecourt of the same petrol station and Shepy's bike had started making an engine noise more normaly found with traction engines - really knackered traction engines at that!!
Cheers
