Fitting a horn to my bike which doesn't have a battery Empty Fitting a horn to my bike which doesn't have a battery

My 2008 300 EXC never came with a horn now it needs one for the first MOT. The electric start has never been fitted and thus doesn't have a battery. The controls are there for the horn button so I was wondering how do I go about wiring it in? Do i just run the wires from the newly aquired horn straight to the KTM control gear?

Your guidance will be greatly appreciated ( by the way if you can't tell I am crap with electrics)

Fitting a horn to my bike which doesn't have a battery Empty horn issue

sounds like the wiring hasnt been taken off bud..........ktm normally attach their horns near the radiator from new so try removing the tank and look behind the rendeer front headlight area to see if there is a single wire there somewhere with literally a spade like connector.

Its nothing more than that really!

Let me know how you get on.

Noworries mate, what you have is an AC circuit for your lights etc but for thr rear brake switch and horn it runs off the DC circuit. There will be two wires behind the rad for the horn, no battery is required, only work like your lights with the engine running. Its a red wire and red/yellow wire. It should be there pal. Do you have a meter .If you have major issues then P.M me and I'll give my number and hope fully we'll be able to find it together over the phone or route a circuit. If your engine runs you will have the power Very Happy
