If he's an experienced and good rider, then the 300 is an awesome tool, but if you just want a decent trail bike which is very rider friendly and light and powerful enough to make you grin, then the 400 anyday. also the fuel as earlyman mentioned, our recent trip to the isle of wight, wege was using twice as much fuel than me on his 300.....and im about 5 stone heavier... you do the math.
