Rear shock with remote reservoir
Has anyone every rebuilt a rear shock?
In particular one with a remote reservoir?
Or recommend a place in south wales?
A triumph tiger i recently purchased as a non runner, the previous owner disconnected the hose between the shock & res to get the carbs out.
With the res being pressurized with nitrogen Im sure it must of spat all its fluid and gas when he loosened off the connection.
The rear shock is now like a right floppy sock
The actual unit looks in pretty good condition, I was wondering if its possible to just refill with oil and recharge the gas?
The end of the res has a push bike type valve on the end.
All i can find in the manuals, is to seek specialist help. Cant find any figures online for the oil level, type, pressure required.

I was thinking of motopro, it's just my dad recently had his wrf Shock serviced there and he wasnt overly impressed with the service.

I've just experimented by connecting my push bike pump onto it and it is holding pressure. 160psi .
When moving the shock up and down you can hear the fluid traveling around. Might try adding fluid through the top

10 bar is about right. Just make sure there is damping all the way through the stroke. Do you have a no loss Schneider valve connector. I presume the push bike pump has one.

Air not as good as Nitrogen as it contains moisture. But hay, its only a triumph!
Love the bit about undoing the pipe to get to the carb. Haha

He must of shit his pants when he undone the res hose. I just don't understand why he didn't just drop the res off. You only have to loosen 2 jubilee clips.
If I can some fluid back in easily, I'll just do as you said and make sure it's dampening the full stroke.
I'll try and find a spare to get refurbed and swap over as I don't want the bike on the ramp for a few days without being able to move it

Re: Rear shock with remote reservoir
I'm not an expert but you'll need to remove the spring from the shock, the resevoir will need to be held at the same height as the top of the shock. The res should have an end cap that is held in place with a circlip. Remove the end cap and the bladder. You should now be able to fill the res. Once filled stroke the shock in and out, this should remove any air. Re-fill level in res. Replace bladder, end cap and circlip and refill with nitrogen. Putting the bladder back in is a messy job as the oil will overflow.
Hope this helps.
