    Canal life

Post by shocker on Sun Jul 16, 2017 10:29 pm

Had an epic (for me Embarassed ) ride from Gloucester to Sharpness (I think it's called) and back but my arse feels like it was Gloucester to Skegness  affraid

The route followed the canal path made up of tarmac, gravel, grass, rut's hidden in grass and broken concrete

The stuff that goes on there out of sight but only yards from busy roads and houses is a bit of an eye opener - blokes in groups smoking wiffy fags, serious fishermen, sleeping and smoking fishermen, river pikeys living in shagged out old tub's, rich buggers with massive boats moored outside their massive houses, people wandering miles from anywhere dressed up to the nines........

Was the biggest canal I've ever seen!

Loads of old boats deliberately beached and filled with concrete to help protect the banks of the Severn - and a nutter  Very Happy

At the end of the path with the Severn Bridge in the background

The when we got back to the car park 32 miles later - disaster struck!!
I had a parking ticket stuck to the screen - put 2 quid in the machine, but only one worked so suspect the curse of the new pound coin had struck
And Steve managed to lock his keys inside the van, so had to call out the AA  Very Happy  Very Happy

Sure i'll look back on a brilliant day out - when the pain dies down  Very Happy
