New member, Hello
Hi
Please bare with me I will keep this as short as possible.
My is Shaun I live in Kendal, I have recently got myself a EXCF 250 (mid life crisis) I have owned MX and Trials bikes many years ago and must say been on a off road bike again is making me smile. I have joined the WTRA and hope to ride Beacons rally and Cambrian rally this year.
We have some good riding here but most of it is short sections or up and back, great for a evening out.
I hate asking for something on my first post but I need some help, I visited a friend who lives in Phoenix over Christmas. He took me to his local MX track which is the reason I now have my ktm, that day rekindled my love for riding off road. Phil and his family are coming over next month, we are meeting on IOM for the TT.
On our return I have one day 10th June to return the favor and take him on a good days riding. I have tried the guiding companies around North Wales but unfortunately they are all booked up. I PM SWTR and Julian suggested I posted here.
I have OS maps and a gps, but the OS does not make it clear on many of the tracks if you can ride or not, I don't want upset anyone. I'm looking for a good days riding with an old mate. I went on a days riding with Craig from Black Desert and said I ride at a reasonable Club-man level.
If anyone can help me or point me in the right direction that would be great.
Cheers Shaun

Hi Shaun,
I've been forwarded your message below. We do not have any "GPS maps" as such as we tend to know the routes from experience. I ask within the club if anybody if free on that Sunday but most are preparing for the Welsh so it may be a long shot.
The best I would suggest is to ask on this site as there may be a few people that can take you out for the day for a few beers in return
southwalestrailrider.forumotion.net
All the best and have fun.
Regards
Julian

Hi Gents
I have taken the time to look at many of the posts on here, which I should have done before I posted. I now understand where you guys are coming from regarding protecting your routes.
What I said on my post was 100% accurate but I realise I went about it the wrong way. I am new to this but learning fast!
I am involved in a business in Swansea and get down from the Lakes 3-4 times a year if I could join a ride out when I'm next down that would be cool. I also understand the NO GPS rule.
Cheers Shaun

Hi and welcome
I thought such a polite and sensible introduction deserved a reply - apart from anything else you didn't call us a bunch of knob jockeys
GPS's are more frowned on rather than banned, apart from anything else it's easy to be sneaky and hide one anyway!
This is only my opinion, but the best way forward is to keep an eye on the rides section, come along on a few of them and get to know people which will gain a bit of trust and everything will fall into place after that
And if you turn out to be bit of a plum, there'll be a queue lining up to tell you with this lot!

Cheers guys, I normally know 4 weeks or so before I come down. I check out the rides section when I have a date sorted.
