Garmin Montana 600 Empty Garmin Montana 600

Post by shocker Sun Apr 02, 2017 8:58 pm

I know there are a few here that use one of these fiendish devices, and wondered if anyone has had the same problem that I had with mine today,  and what they did to cure it?

The maps can dissappear then reappear for no reason that I can see - which is a bit of a pisser!
It must be the SD card as the rest of the screen stays visible, so have tried fiddling with the card and holder but it still happens  Twisted Evil

Any ideas?? - and no Steve, I'm not chucking it in the nearest bin  Very Happy

Take the battery out & put it back in to reload.

I've done that a few times to get at the card (which seems a bit loose?) and it still does it scratch

Isnt the sd card optional? my maps are loaded on the unit itself not the sd card

Sounds like your sd card could be on the way out?

Mines never done that , my sd card isnt loose though , so sounds like that could be problem . Once I've pulled the metal holder down over the sd card to lock it in place its snug as a bug .

Sounds like this is the problem, as even when the metal clip is down (and locked) the card can move a very small amount just by shaking it
Must be the shit Honda forks that have killed then... cheers

sounds like it is the sd card, have you tried loading the original maps that come pre loaded, they are pants but better than a blank screen,

if you get another sd card you should be able to copy the map from that card to the new one,

can you put somthing on top of the card holder, thinking of something like a fag paper so when the battery clips in it holds it in place.
