bash plate Empty bash plate

Post by Clarky_two Thu Sep 15, 2016 8:37 pm

just bought a new bash plate and it comes with 3 clamps that clamp to the frame inside the plate itself. Its proving to be a bit of a twat to get the clamps lined up on the inside between the frame and the guard, then get the bolts inplace all at the same time.

surley theres an easy way? - lay the bike on its side??

just looking for some pointers before I head butt the foot peg anymore than I have. Sad Sad

how do you do yours?

I used a telescopic type magnet to get the bits where they need to be, they are a pain, but please stop headbutting your pegs hey;)

Put all the bolts in loose, line the bash plate up....then tighten.

my CRM one is a bit like that - as wolfy says literally put the slightest bit of thread on the bolt - i even got the missus laying down under the bike holding the plate while i went round the bolts for the first time - 2 man job ...or 1 man 1 woman job depending on who's at hand

Get some mastic/silicon tape around the frame where the front clamps go this will hold them in place. (or silicon but tape is better)
Next time you take the guard off just slacken the rear bracket bolts but don't take them all the way out.
You'll have to undo the front bolts all the way but the mastic tape should hold the clamps in place, Then you should be able to slide it forward without taking the rear clamp off all the time.
Gets easier the more you do it.
Can do mine without any mastic now just hold the front clamps in place with a finger.
