Rerouting Carb breather pipes

Post by Maxymilz on Sun Sep 11, 2016 12:07 pm

Hi all, when out with wolfy and a few others it was mentioned about rerouting the breather pipes from the carb. The bike was struggling to stay running when going through long deep puddles on occasion. Water itself was not getting in. Has anyone got any advice or anyways they have overcome this - ie by routing the pipes into the airbox or any other options? Thanks in advance.

up under the tank, as high as you can go, sometimes the airbox goes under so to put them in there sort of defeats the object.

If the water goes half way up your air box its probably to late to worry about the breather pipes lol!

Is it just the overflow pipe you leave down & put the rest up high ?
Is it as simple as just rerouting the pipes ?

Or you could just stick to  Muffy or Joe rides
But if you end up on a Wolfy ride you most definitely need to put your pipes high or maybe the need of a snorkel lol!
buy longer air pipe from the pet shop & T pieces & join as many as possible to give you the least up under the tank, leave the overflow down.

If I remember rightly there's either 3 or 4 pipes coming off, two at the top of the carb and two at the bottom, leave the bottom two (or one? Can't remember now) where they are as thier the overflows, route the top two through the plastic slot where the rear light wiring goes through by the airbox and stick em in there, assuming it's a KTM, worked for me lol!

Have a look for a big breather coming down in front of the engine going into the sump gaurd.
It should coming off the top of the head.
When you stall in water and try starting it sucks water up and dumps it in the engine.
Did on mine but that was a 05 so may be different but i put mine into the airbox and it started much better.
