Daft as you like .
Right then . Four of us decided to ride from Oswestry to Barmouth then back on a different route . We had this notion that we would camp under the stars with tarps , bivvy bags and hammocks . All good in the hood . A nice glowing fire by the side of the lake to complement the disposable BBQ and a few glasses of vin rouge whilst we laughed at our first days antics . Sounded like an awesome plan for a wee adventure as riding old loops gets to us lot sometimes . Off we set off with a few supplies plus spare kit should the forcasted rain hit us (you never know) . Over the back of The Berwyns and headed to Barmouth . Hi Ho . Once we got to Vyrnwy The Prophesy of rain started but we thought "Ah , that'll pass" so pic's were taken .
Off we go .
Stumbled upon a little sheep trail that looked interesting so we had a play . That was the Omen for the day . Kev took a tumble a smasherised his peek , clutch lever and hand guard .
On we rode .
Hit a few bogs
then I managed to drown my bike along with the once dry spare clothes . Nice . The rain then started to get horizontal by this time and times started to get like the Billy Ocean song . Got the bike going again although now my Sealskinz socks were holding quite a bit of bog water in and doing a good job at it . All of us were soaked to the skin by this point and we were only at Welshpool . You knows it .
That's all the pic's I have as my camera batteries didn't like the driving rain . The night spent sleeping (or not as I was watching my tarp flap in the howling gales shitting my pants that it would blow away resulting in me against lashing rain all night ) was pretty bad as we were in the middle of nowhere and couldn't even get wood to light as it was so wet . It wasn't a bad experience in hindsight but it was quite tough . Sundays ride back was ok as we got to ride The Grolsch Run and some really nice scenic stuff plus it didn't rain . Burned a massive hole in my Klim jacket as I had it strapped under my non sleeping bag and the cuff fell out onto my tail pipe . Gutted about that but deffo not gutted that we did this adventure . It was class with great mates . That's what I'm talking about .

Was laughing on Sunday mate . Saturday night was properly long mind but we had an under cover BBQ and a few tipples to ease the pain . It was a good craic still . Nothing better than putting wet stuff on to ride again . 30 seconds of cold and the you are on your way . Sorted .

Nice one Steve , thats the way to do it , not with the Long Way Down support vehicle . I'd have loved to have been a fly on the wall watching you lot trying to light a damp log in the pissing rain I saw a clip of you washing yourself in that trench , definitely a case of needing longer legs ( I got a spare leg you can have , one careful owner , i'll do you a swap for your little short one ! )

Cracking pic's & report steve looked a giggle
Ride outs always seem to be more fun when they don't go quite as planned
