Shagged mousses

Post by shocker on Wed Aug 17, 2016 9:03 pm

How do you tell when they're knackered?

Mine have been on for over 12 months now, and done a fair bit.
They looked in good enough condition last time I saw them, but after the Powys when squashed by hand (especially the front) feel like only about 6 or 7 psi

Whilst happy to keep going with them if OK, would rather know if they are likely to suddenly give up on life! Shocked

When your tyres starts to wobble like its flat :lol!
Dont think they will just give up like a tube 12 months is nothing i wouldent worry about them yet.

I used to run tubes at 13 to 15 and they feel softer than that, and a lot softer than when new scratch
About what should a new mousse feel??

I'm joking Gary. I think a new 1 is said to be about 0.9bar (12-13psi) .

If you gave what you think is shagged to Lew001 he will think they are brand new compared to what he got in.

They are knackered when your tyre wont stay rimmed as far as I can tell...?
They seem to start at 24 psi ish when new & then drop to 4 psi or lower before they are buggered  lol!
Guess it depends on what you do to em to work out a timescale  scratch
Like steve said they probably wont just give up tho! he was wobbling around on his last set for years  lol!

The bike feels a bit 'squirmy' (is that even a word?) on the road, and heavy steering off - just like you'd expect with low psi I suppose

In no rush to bin them though, as have heard they've recently gone up in price  Shocked

Maybe I should go Tubliss?? lol!

I think someone has pumped your mousse up Paul lol! I found this. Google !!

Specifically designed for use in off-road competition, Michelin Bib mousse is lighter than a Heavy Duty tube! When fitted MICHELIN Bib-mousse offers the equivalent inner tube pressure of 0.9 bar whilst at the same time removing the possibilities of having to retire from a race due to a puncture!
