Newbie in Tintern! Empty Newbie in Tintern!

Post by jenkinR Mon Feb 01, 2016 7:58 pm

Hi All!

I currently live in Bristol and ride in the surrounding area with friends..
However bike storage is a real pain! I'm reliant on the garage owner being there to adjust/fix the bike and can only get out riding when he also wants to ride which is really frustrating!

I'm therefore considering moving my bike to Tintern and storing it at the family home so I have freedom to get out whenever I want!

But before I commit to the change.. I was hoping to find people in that area to actually ride with!!
So I'm hoping the KTM's I've seen flying though now and then belong to some of you South Wales Trail Riders living nearby?

Cheers all!
Rich

+ follow up question.. is there a bike/part shop nearby?
As I'd be gutted if I broke something working on the bike (like recently shearing a bolt!) then had to drive all the way back to Bristol & back to grab a part!

Hi
Don't know if anyone lives up that way but there's always someone from here riding the lanes up that way sometime or other.
Some real nice ones to.
Have you got a van or trailer to move the bike around?

How do Rich!
A few of us do indeed get out in the tintern area , loads of great trails!
Look out in the I'm going riding section for any upcoming rides.

hi mate - what bike you got ?

There is normally enough combined knowledge of bike shops - or bits and pieces in rucksacks to get someone back on the road ... they are a very helpful bunch

Alright Rich , most of us get round that way during the year , some great lanes  , up round Usk and further on . If you can get use of a trailer or van , that's a bonus as many rides start a bit further into Wales . Bike shops bit thin on the ground round there , lucky to find a petrol station ! There's a old fogey bike shop on Coleford , and a good dealer in Cinderford ( Haines , he does Enduro stuff ) , still a bit of a drive from Tintern . Dualsport in Ledbury bit further again , but keeps lots of spares .

Hi & welcome, like the guys say some of us do visit that area from time to time normally through the winter due to its warming lanes Very Happy
Tintern is a great base tho!, a van or trailer is a good call tho.... most rides head out from the valleys/ west/ mid & north wales through out the year.

Hi All!
Thank for the replies, I'm impressed at the speed of all the responses! Sounds like an active group which is reassuring!!

I finally got round to passing my full licence end of last year.. So I've just upgraded from an 125SX to EXC-F 250 with a big bore 280 kit (getting used to all the extra weight every time I drop it hasn't been easy!)

+Unfortunately I wont have access to a trailer/van as I currently share a trailer in Bristol which I'll be giving up if I move the bike! But hopefully the wealth of new places to explore around Tintern should keep me busy for a while!

Also I've heard most of the trail groups around always ride on Sundays? Is this true?
As I hate waiting for Sundays!! Waiting all week for Saturday is hard enough!
