spark plug hole and mud
Not a problem, but today i removed the spark plug and found it quite tight to get the socket in there. Afterwards I noticed that there was quite a bit of mud tat was around the plug.
What do you do to clean it out before removing the plug? Obviously you cannt get it all out on the trail and it maybe possible to knock some down the hole when putting the plug back in?
I suppose the last thing you want is mud and shit down the chamber.....
Any tips?
Obviously try to clean out as much as you can before removing the plug, but its pretty tight down there, so getting it all out could be a problem.

Ask Gareth Gates to do it for you , he is used to sticking his tongue in holes
I usually clean around the plug with compressed air , pull the plug out and then carefully wipe the plug hole area with a wet wipe and then crank the bike over with the plug out to clear any bits of dust or debris

It is very bloody tight in them rfs's Lee, there should be a rubber around the plug cap to stop crap getting all the way in but some does build around the top, difficult on the trail to get shot of, just got to remove what you can and hope for the best!

Never have a problem with this - but only because the only time I ever need to take the plug out, is after I've given the whole bike a good wash in the bottom of a bloody river!

Top Tips;
There is a drainage hole in the head, so a blast with the power hose is ok - make sure the drain hole isnt blocked. Take the plug out and clean up the HT lead and spray with some GT85 stuff and bobs ya uncle.

Cant find any sorry but it was a ttr and we had to take the head off to remove a compressed lump of mud that matched the piston crown.

in the old days of air cooled and cylinder head fins, We used to cut a square out off an old iner tube, make a hole in the middle that was a tight fit over the plug and then replace the plug cap and mud would build up on top of the inner tube and was flung out the way when you took it off before removing you plug
