'melted' piston on cylinder wall - how I got it off
So it turns out that the 300 doesn't have a cylinder liner. The Nikasil is plated onto the alu. Best price i got for replating was £180 and a 3 week turn around. So I thought I would give Crickets advice ago, hit it with some wet and dry 320 grit. Started off gentle and it came off a treat, got harder the smoother it got. Ended up giving it a proper scrub and not a trace of piston left, nikasil is as flawless as the rest of the cylinder. So big thanks to cricket for the advice, saved me lots of cash and I reckon i'll be running it in Wed eve ready for Barmouth.

From what i read on the internet the damage looks like it a lack of oil. so either running lean at WOT or i mixed too little oil in. Throttle jammed open with no load for about 15-20 seconds.
