Air Filter Cleaner & Oil... Empty Air Filter Cleaner & Oil...

Post by Enduro_Mayhem Fri Dec 13, 2013 7:39 am

I know this topic's been covered a million times before, but what filter cleaner and oil are you guys using?

I've always run with NoToil oil and their dedicated cleaner/Oxy Clean, but their products are getting harder to source in a hurry, with only a few stockists listing them for mail order... it usually takes the best part of a week to get hold of anything!

So...
What filter oil do you recommend - and who stocks it locally (Cardiff/Newport area)?
What do you use to clean dirty/used filters - can't bring myself to go the petrol route again?

Thanks...

I use kerosene/paraffin from B&Q in a dedicated bucket to get rid of the dirt and oil, then into clean bucket of warm soapy water for a quick hand wash, leave out to dry then motul filter oil works a treat.

On the Trials bike i clean it in pre mixed petrol for the bike then wash with washing up liquid ,dry it then clean it again with pre mixed petrol. To put the oil back in the filter. Pour a drop of two stroke oil in the palm of the hand a smear on the outside of the filter.

I have an old 5 gallon sealable grease container that is half full of heating oil (similar to paraffin) that I use to degrease filters. Then a bucket of hot soapy water and a bloody good rinse! I use soap powder and washing up liquid... Very Happy
