Damaged casing - any ideas ?
My Mate Greg has had a bit of a moment when he rounded the bolt off on his excf 250 oil filter . tried to drill it out and ended up going a bit too far - chipped some of the casing off . He's put some jb weld on there , but its still seeping . I haven't seen the bike , but from pics looks like the jb weld is a bit proud . Any other suggestions how he can sort it ?

He could try getting a decent welder to tig the hole up and then re tap it? How far do the threads go in? Perhaps a longer bolt may be all it needs

Chemical metal is pretty good as long as its put on a good clean surface.

The chemical metal just broke away when he tried to re tap it today , may be a a dealer weld job now I think . Awkward as it's taken the edge off the oil filter seal Area , and that's the bit that needs to be perfectly matched . Dual sport in Ledbury is his nearest dealer , trip there I think now .
