Just stripped the thread when doing up the sump plug on the excf 350 . What's the best fix . I still want to use it really . I know Wolfy had this a while ago , and I forgot what he did !  Stripped sump plug excf350 276680

Did the same thing (on a '79 Maico) and had it helcoiled for only a few quid, and never had any more trouble with it  Very Happy

I think I'll phone Paul at Dualsport in the morning . He just did my fork seals today , I should have left him the whole f*ckin bike !

Yes mate had it helicoiled too! cost £20 but use the screen/filter bolts now to oil change just in case like.

Thanks for the advice , helicoil it is . I may adopt the sideways oil change method too . Does the bike have to be laid right over for that , or just tipped a bit ?

Side stand will do, if its the same as the 450 there's one bolt right next door  Very Happy

Try the Honda lawnmower system in future - drain the oil out through the same hole you put it in through  Very Happy Very Happy

Yeah mines the same . I must say , with such an obvious weak point as a sump thread , you'd have thought Ktm might have beefed it up for people who just do things up by hand torque !
