    could have been an air lock in the system causing a sharp increase in temperature....if it was it sounds like it cleared itself....

    check all the rad pipes for any splits etc etc

    cheers again, appreciate the advice. Bike had been standing in a garage for a year, the water bubbled out from the overflow, but seems to have settled down. I understand the E model doesn't have a fan and runs very hot.
    Took the Vara for a spin Sunday Usk Chepstow, Abergavenny. A&B roads only, really good. Now need to get some miles on the DRZ offroad.(Saturdays are good)
