time to change oil in my wrf, do i need semi or fully synthetic, is make or cost a factor, or just use an average price oil and change it more often..

Used fully on my last ktm once because the book said?......then switched to semi after that, done 10500 miles on her with no problems not even a clutch.
But changed the oil every 400miles ish & filters every 800 after running in.

I used to use fully synthetic £35 a pop for 4 litres. Must have been bonkers. At the time i was changing it after every ride.

been using halfords own brand semi for the last couple of years £23 for 5 litres but i do change the oil and filter every 2nd ride.

But have been a bit lazy with it lately.

It only holds just over a litre with filter so worth doing regularly.

You probably already know but you,l have to drop the oil from the frame to if its warm.

Also worth checking where the oil pipes feed into the frame take them out there's a wires gauze inside that can clog up over time and stave the engine.

or just remove it altogether.

I use yam oil in mine 10-40 semi synthetic, this is what it recomended for the wr250f about £7 a ltr ,have used other makes of 10-40 semi but had problems with the clutch burning out very quickly, fitted rekluse and use yamlube and all is working well.
