Re: Air filters
Been sticking mine in the washer for years wash em on there own or with your bike gear.
Got a little spray bottle mixed with petrol and 2 stroke oil once there dried i give them a good spray with that.
(Also spray the bike with it after washing)
petrol evaporates and leaves a layer of 2 stroke behind.
Still not quite water proof through

Re: Air filters
I know this thread is old, but...
...cleaning an air filter is a minging job. I've just done mine and I'm buzzing of air filter cleaner, and my face is still numb from getting more than a little bit high on the fumes!
I did a search for air filters earlier, and came across these [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. Has anyone, or is anyone using these? If they do the job, then I'm thinking cleaning filters is the thing of the past for me, especially at only £6 a pop!
Thoughts?

Re: Air filters
Ha ha, class! Does that actually work then? Doesn't it harm the filter membrane or anything?
If you roll your cursor over the "pre oiled air filters" in my previous message then you should be able to click on it for the link - I was trying to be clever, does it work?

Re: Air filters
So I take it you got a dustbin full of smelly socks.....
You need to clean your air filter after every ride mind tim.
Ps: washing power is fine in warm/cold water, they don't like the tumble dryer tho!

Re: Air filters
I'm averaging about 100 miles per air filter clean at the moment, which equates to one day's riding with you
How many times on average can I clean my filters before binning them?

Re: Air filters
Fair play, and you're still using the washing powder in a bucket trick? Where're you going to get your filters from? Is there a place local?
