Fork seals Empty Fork seals

Post by Mogs Mon Oct 31, 2011 8:37 pm

What are the seals like on a ktm to change?

Never done this before... and have no real idea on what to do, would rather learn how to do them myself than a pay a bike shop. Or is it worth leaving to the experts?

Forks are on a 09 KTM

Any help would be great!

Mine need doing soon but it looks a bit fiddly.rocky mountain got some good videos on YouTube for bike maintenance and there's ones for doing fork seals

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Far easier to drop the forks out of the bike and drop them into a shop to do though if u ask me

Be careful with this vid guys he dos'nt mention the fork seal go's a certain way round on WP. With all balls kits it shows you on the back of the packet, if you buy the black stock seals the sping side of the seal faces the top of the fork.

do a bit of research on types, there's a couple of different ones. if you've not already bought em

the Berg ones are supposed to be better quality, less stiction and cheaper, and go straight in.

Dunno what the quality of the all balls ones are like ?

haha... they've been gone for a while... thats why i tend to keep the front up in the air as much as possible Smile

sorted them spokes out buddy, a guy rebuilt the wheel and replaced the spokes for £15, happy days.

The reason they went was because the mousse had turned into dust, and the spokes then pushed through... Not a fan of running moussess.. back to good old tubes!
