Ride out kit
I've noticed from the different pics and videos that everyone carries varying amounts of kit in different types of bag. Bum bags, front and rear fender bags, ruck sacks etc. what I'd be interested to know is what you use and why, what you put in them and what you consider to be the bare essentials.
Cheers,
Simon

Re: Ride out kit
Never been a boy scout but I likes to be prepared.
Always, always carry enough stuff to get your own bike outta the shit. Nothing worse being on a rideout when someone breaks down and aint got feck all to even have a go at the repairs.
Someone will always help out but some ride very ill prepared and take the piss. Essential I think is a breakdown card, don't cost a lot with Tesco vouchers, and as long as your not stuck in the middle of nowhere you should get home
So here's a few suggestions most of which I carry except the tubes bit cos I got mousses, i'm a bit of a kitchen sink man myself:
Breakdown card and moby phone
Tube as Steve says, levers to get the tyre off and spanners to get the wheel off.
Puncture kit if you have bad luck.
Split link or two
Plug & spanner
Selection of small spanners + adjustable
Multi tool inc pliers, screwdriver, allan keys etc
Cable ties
Couple terminal blocks
Bit of cable
couple bits of hose
gear lever
bit of chain and breaker
Fuses
Odd nuts,bolts,washers
Brake & clutch lever
spare gloves
goggles or glasses
food, food and more food. Bananas I loves em
drink system (tesco rucksacks are popular and cheap)
Surprising how much you can fit in if you pack it tidy.
Just worked out why I crash so much, my center of gravity is too high

Re: Ride out kit
I'm with Wege there, tend to carry alot of zip ties in various different sizes - saved me a long push back to the van last time i went out.
Other than that i carry Mars bars and my insulin, mobile phone, money.. oh and a tow rope and spare chain links, spare plug and the tools to change it - I stopped carrying brake/clutch levers when i fitted bark busters and stopped carrying tubes/ tyre levers when i fitted mousses. Bags alot lighter now
